Join an author reading event featuring Godelieve Uyttenhove presenting selections from Letters to Captain Jack, her collection of fictional letters to Modoc leader Kintpuash (widely known by his English name "Captain Jack"). Kintpuash is best known for leading resistance efforts during the Modoc War of 1872–1873.
Uyttenhove, originally born in Belgium, moved to California in 1973. She has worked as a librarian in Sonoma, Marin, Humboldt, Modoc, Mendocino and Trinity counties in California, and Lake County in Oregon.
